The Stable Relationship is the equine assisted therapy practice of Meg Patterson, LMFT, EAMHP. After 30 years of work as a traditional psychotherapist with individual adults and couples, Meg discovered that being around horses could have a profound healing effect. She wanted to expand her private practice services to include interactions with horses so others could also experience the powerful physical, mental, and emotional effects of being in the presence of a horse.
To this end, Meg studied at the Institute for Human-Animal Connection in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. This intensive post graduate program prepared her to work with clients as an Equine Assisted Mental Health Practitioner. Meg continues study about horses and horse-human interactions, avidly reading, and traveling to workshops across the country. However, her favorite and most illuminating teachers have been, and continue to be, the horses themselves.
Meg has completed equine body work courses and practicums in the Masterson Method and the Tucker Biokinetic Technique (TBT). She is certified as a TBT Equine Alignment Specialist as well as a TBT Master Practitioner.
Horses who participate in equine assisted therapy at The Stable Relationship are selected because of their calm, patient and highly sensitive natures. The physical, emotional, mental and spiritual care of horses is important. After sessions with clients, our horses receive their own ‘therapy’ via grooming, massage and body work.
